Picture post: Busy Bee and Sunflower

A friend of mine loves sunflowers and so whenever I see one I try to get a picture. For some reason, the wind suddenly decides to blow nine out of ten times when I try, but sometimes I get a good one.

I was always afraid of bees since getting stung when I was a kid, but lately I am just fascinated by them. I have a healthy respect for them as they go about their business, but I also tend to stick my camera right up to the flower where the bee is buzzing about so I can get a close up.

I love the yellows and blacks and browns that they share, the little bee and the big sunflower. There’s so much more space on a sunflower to putter about on than, say, a daisy. And sunflowers are just a happy flower, in my opinion. Swaying lazily in the breeze, bright colors gorgeous against a blue sky. And those little bees! Round little bodies held up in flight by gossamer wings, focused on their job and travelling flower to flower with little care for me and my cameraphone.

Is there a flower that makes you happy? With a little busy bee buzzing about? 🙂
