PICTURE POST: Let the research begin

Valentine’s Day isn’t a big deal for me, but if you love it then Happy Valentine’s Day!

If not, Happy Friday!

I missed last week’s blog post. It was a tough week for many reasons, but the main one for not posting here was that I was working on the second draft of my prospectus paper. Added a few more pages to the original, re-worked some ideas and I might need another draft before it goes to the Committee for approval, but I think I have a good handle on my Capstone Project.

I’m interested in the importance of a filming location to fans/fandom and culture/history, and how that ties into tourism. The project will be to visit particular filming locations and write researched articles about the experiences that will include interviews with other fans. The articles will eventually be posted here as featured long reads, along with some armchair traveler articles about the same topic without actual visits but more input from fellow fans who have been there.

That’s the simple version. There’s so much to be done, but I’m excited to really dig in.

This week I’m researching for the television show Versailles. There were several filming locations but I’m concentrating on the palace of Versailles and the chateau Vaux-le-Vicomte. That’s why the pic for my picture post isn’t quite what I normally use. Check out some of the books I’m currently reading before re-watching the first episode.

You can watch all three seasons of Versailles on Netflix and Amazon Prime.
