PICTURE POST: Northern Ireland

In the wake of finals and recent elections, and with the holidays coming up (which should be merry but won’t be much this year for personal reasons) I sort of hit an emotional wall this week and decided today’s post would be not just a picture post, but about one of the most peaceful places I have ever had the opportunity to experience. Castlewellan Forest Park (and arboretum) in Castlewellan, Northern Ireland is a wondrous joy to walk through. I’ve been there when the flowers were blooming in riots of color and smells and when they were clipped back to away the next season, strolled leisurely along the paths and raced after an energy-filled black lab, gotten lost in the maze and didn’t mind much if I ever got out… And each and every time I was with friends who made the experience a million times better. The Forest Park has inspired me, humbled me, made me in awe of its beauty, and honestly makes me believe in magic.

I think we could all use a little of that now.

Do you have a special place that brings you peace and inspiration?
