Picture Post: Borough Market 2015

I love exploring London with my friends, those very lovely and patient souls, and one of my favorite places to visit is the Borough Market in Southwark. Every delectable edible is there, from a huge brownie tower (seen on my first visit) to a meringue cookie bigger than my hand (yum) to little meat pies called things like “Chicken of Aragon” and the “Free Ranger” that had me making Lord of the Rings connections. I made this collage after my visit in 2015, but here’s a bit from my 2009 trip scrapbook:

“Borough Market is one of London’s oldest outdoor markets, likely established around 1014. The railroad above the market used to rain coal dust down on the vendors and shoppers, which you can still see evidence of in the high rafters. There are not only fresh food vendors, but also wines, jams, and little shops and restaurants to enjoy.”

If a visit to the Borough Market isn’t in the cards, you can always use Google Earth to “walk” around and explore virtually. Fair warning, you’re going to be hungry before long….
