More than a Picture Post

Due to work being insane, my brain is mush and so I’ve decided rather than write something that I haven’t put much thought or effort into, I’d share a photo and a little bit about myself.

This is a picture of a bit of sidewalk in London, taken in 2009. This is not an “oops” pic, I deliberately pointed my camera and took the picture of…the pavement. A shiny metal thing in the stone. I honestly don’t remember what the motivation was beyond a bit of sidewalk in London. It was my first visit and I fell in love after two minutes of being on the train from Heathrow to meet up with a friend.

That first trip was awesome. We walked everywhere. My feet hurt at the end of each day, but I honestly didn’t care. I took pictures of everything because there was so much that I wanted to see and I needed to remember it all.

Funny enough, I did the exact same thing on my next trip, and I suspect I’ll always fall into the same pattern. My friends take it in stride, or rather, they stride on ahead while I fall behind and it takes a few feet before they realize I’m not there and they stop to find me.

It happens on vacation, walking around at work, on walks with my partner along the same streets we walk almost every day. I love taking pictures to keep the memories fresh, to share with others, to preserve a moment in time.

Sometimes I have to put the camera, well, cameraphone for the most part now, away because always falling behind gets old and frustrating sometimes, and instead of keeping those moments frozen in a picture, I talk about them and then just let them pass by and move on to the next.

And then I see a pretty flower, lose all control and the cameraphone is out before I know it.

Oops.
